3rd July 2008 - Repair of lost wireless connection

Being without an internet connection is frustrating for many, but not least of all for a web designer whose livelihood relies on being to constantly access the web. For reasons unknown to me I lost wireless connectivity to my Netgear DG834G Wireles router from my Packard Bell EasyNote laptop. Ethernet worked fine though, albeit on a very short cable which meant sitting uncomfortably for the time it took to figure out how to fix it!

Here's how to fix your wireless internet connection - On a Packard Bell EasyNote laptop computer the F1 button, when pressed in conjunction with the Function (Fn) button toggles the laptops Wireless 'switch' on and off. However there are no visual clues to help - just a lovely, single 'bleep' sound. Have faith - press the Fn button and F1 at the same time - ONCE - then refresh your available wireless networks.

So if you find yourself working with a Packard Bell EasyNote laptop computer that loses its Wireless connectivity to a Netgear DG834G Wireless router try pressing Fn and F1, refresh your available wireless connections and fingers crossed it will work for you as it did for me. Best of luck!

24th June 2008 - Online Seminars

If you're a real person reading this - really?? Thank you!
I imagine this BLOG will be tangled in the web for some time, at least until I write some content beneficial for others. For now it serves to let me generate new content for my website for SEO purposes. I previously had a Wordpress blog on my site, but have (thankfully) spent so much time working on other people's web design projects that I've been able to spare very little for my own web design and SEO business development.

Endeavouring to expand my SEO knowledge, I this evening attended an online SEO seminar - a note to anyone else interested in doing so:

Online SEO seminars such as the one I 'attended' are run from abroad thus you have to be mindful of the time difference between the organiser's time and ours in the UK. Also I found that the online seminar worked in real time visually, but for the audio commentary I needed to ring their number (in Hawaii I believe!) and effectively make a 20 minute phone call to them. I watched in silence :-( Fortunately they also had an instant messaging system set up so I was able to ask for relevant information when it was clear I needed to have carried out some sort of action!

My current web design and SEO projects:

As you probably already know I work closely with Design and Print Centre in Braintree and have spent time recently designing a Poster Printing website plus ongoing SEO for the same. I am currently working on a website for an Essex based Electrical Contractor and have just completed a website for a Design and Print Centre client who supply windows doors and conservatories throughout the UK.

My SEO knowledge is currently mostly being used to mine and Design and Print Centre's advantage in an attempt to secure a large portion of online business for the various aspects of our combined businesses.
